Equine Rescue Of Aiken
'Saratoga WarHorse Program'

Equine Rescue Of Aiken    532 Glenwood Drive      Aiken, SC 29803

They were Soldiers in the US Military. They gave their all to protect us. Now Equine Rescue of Aiken is giving back so they are not forgotten. The special Saratoga WarHorse program helps to rebuild them one by one with the help of our horses and facilities. Veterans will be brought to Aiken from all over the Country by the Saratoga WarHorse Program to participate in their 3 day Program, held at our facilities. For those struggling with PTSD, This confidential, peer-to-peer and equine-based program is free to qualifying veterans.

Saratoga WarHorse pairs Veterans with off the track Thoroughbreds, provided by Aiken Equine Rescue to use in their Program, for a life altering experience. The focus is communicating in the horses' own language,  creating a trusting relationship with the horse and emotionally empowering the Veteran.

Equine Rescue of Aiken needs you to help with the costs that we incur for the upkeep of our rescued war horses and the use of the Equine Rescue of Aiken facilities that we have set aside for use by the Veterans and the Saratoga WarHorse facilitators during this experience. The Aiken Community in all walks of life, including the Horse Community, welcome these Veterans into Aiken and thank them for their service. - See more at:

We were race horses, show horses, event horses, trail horses, draft horses, polo ponies, saddlebreds, barrel racers, broodmares, foals, donkeys, mini horses and "backyard pets". When we were no longer useful, we were abused, abandoned, neglected, unwanted, unloved. Many of us were destined for slaughter.

We are also dogs and puppies of all sizes and breeds. Now we have food, water and veterinary care. We live on a beautiful 80 acre farm in board fenced paddocks with shelters. We are safe and well cared for at Haven Hills Farm.

We are waiting for you to adopt us into ‘Forever Homes.’ Our places will be filled by other horses in need. You can break the cycle of cruelty and stop the terrible waste of equine lives. Please come to the farm and meet us, The HORSES, PONIES, MINI DONKEYS and PUPS of HAVEN HILLS FARM.Equine Rescue Of Aiken is a 501(c) (3) Non-Profit org .Hours are Tuesday - Saturday 8am - 1pm  Sunday and Monday by Advanced Appointment        Phone (803) 643-1850

Hub City Farmers' Market - Saturday Market

Northside Harvest Park is home to The Butterfly Foundation, the Monarch Cafe and Fresh Food Store, Hub City Farmers’ Market’s Saturday Market, and HCFM’s Urban Farm. Harvest Park grew from an idea that a community working together could fight food disparities in Spartanburg. The facility springs from the effort of many, many partners: local, regional, and national, all with the idea of creating a “farm to fork” opportunity in a food desert. More than 3 years in the making, Harvest Park offers Northside residents a chance to buy healthy produce within walking distance for the first time in more than a generation.

Folly Low Tide Dolphin Kayak Tour

McClellanville Public Boat Landing
405 Pinckney Street                        McClellanville, SC 29458

Coastal Expeditions will lead a trip  scheduled at low tide for the best chance to see dolphins in Folly Creek, this tour is a guide and favorite.

Dolphins along the coast of South Carolina and Georgia are unique in that they have learned how to hunt by working as a team to push fish onto the muddy banks.  Once the fish have been washed ashore, the dolphins quickly follow, temporarily beaching themselves as they eat mullet and other species off the banks.

It's an exciting sight, and shore birds like egrets, herons and pelicans often participate in this event as well, picking up the fish that the dolphins leave behind.

The skies and waters are ripe with wildlife right now. Join Coastal Expeditions for this special opportunity within Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge! Excellent for experienced and novice birders, nature lovers and photographers.  843.406.0640

Projects and “Wish List”  It’s almost the end of 2016, but we aren’t letting up and still have some huge projects on the docket. Read below to see some of what we’re doing, and check out our Wish List on website to see how you can help.

Raptor Enclosures
Several non-releasable animals came to us recently who would be great additions to our group of educational animals — but to stay permanently, they need permanent enclosures! We’ve selected a site for the enclosures; our volunteers have worked incredibly hard to gather materials; and several amazing, hard-working individuals have cleared and graded the site for us. The next step is construction! If you are able to help with pouring footers or building the pens (even if that means bringing lunch for the work crews), please let us know! Time frame: November-December 2013

Humane Society Of South Carolina Cruelty Program

The Humane Society of SC      121 Humane Lane   Columbia, SC 29209

The Humane Society Of SC  is committed to investigating and resolving instances of animal cruelty and neglect. Animal cruelty encompasses a range of behaviors harmful to animals from neglect to malicious killing. Most cruelty cases looked into by our Cruelty Investigator, Eddie O’Cain, is unintentional neglect that can be resolved through education.  Intentional cruelty or abuse is knowingly depriving an animal of food, water, shelter, or veterinary care or maliciously torturing, maiming, mutilating or killing an animal.

Animal hoarding is a situation that happens when someone has collected so many animals that they are unable to provide proper care for them. In South Carolina, there are numerous laws that protect the welfare of animals.  If you witness an act of animal torture, abuse or neglect, call your local police or sheriff’s office immediately. If you know or suspect that an animal is being neglected or abused, report your information by calling Eddie O’Cain, Cruelty Investigator, at 803.783.1267 x11 or by email at
